_____________________ SONG LYRICS _______________________ I was heading East toward Shreveport Lou’siana ROLLIN’ all night long, makin' up some miles Stopped in Dallas at the Lone Star Diner for a cuppa Joe and to rest my eyes a while The waitress there was a damn good looking’ woman And the way she smiled at me really caught my eye She wore a cute little waitress dress that said Loretta up on her chest and almost made it to the mid-point of her thigh Loretta walked up in a real flirtatious manner when she topped off my coffee the second time she said, “How’d you like to see something you can have for free … but ’ll defi-nit-ely delay your departure time?” I said Hell Yeah I’d love to see YOUR "Daily Special" so she put her her high heeled foot up on my chair I said, “I'd sure like to see THAT on the Takeout Menu” !! So she took my hand and we walked right out of there There was a stairway out behind the Lone Star Diner and I followed her up to the second floor She said, “We gotta keep it down, ‘cause Little Lenny’s sleeping ... in the bedroom down the hall behind that door That made me start to wonder about Big Lenny … She said don’t worry he don’t live here ’round no more Walked out on his wife and son   Moved down to Galveston Where he controls the drugs ’n gambling near the shore Drugs and Gamblin…huh That made me feel a bit unsettled But then her dress came off and she tossed it on a chair For an hour and a half we were rolling round and moanin ‘Til I noticed "LITTLE LENNY" standing there (BRIDGE) LITTLE was surely not my first impression Of the MEAN LOOKING DUDE with the GUN over by the door I jumped up and grabbed my pants and keys and wallet And dove out the window from the second floor I tucked and rolled as bullets landed all around me And I ran like hell across the parking lot I guess Little Lenny’s eyesight was still blurry Cause my lily white ass should have made an easy shot And that’s why I can’t never go back to Dallas there’s danger on every corner there for ME Little Lenny and his gun have kept me on the run with a broken heart and a life of misery My sweet Loretta’s gone and I’m forced to carry on with a broken heart and a life of misery a broken heart and a life of misery a broken heart and a life of misery ...

Welcome to my very first "Good Old Fashioned Single" You may not be old enough to remember the Good Old Days. Back then, a SINGLE was a flat, circular, physical piece of vinyl. The music itself was carved into grooves in the plastic. you played it back, not on your cell phone, but on a relatively large single purpose machine that was specially designed to do that and nothing else.

But that's not why they were the Good Old Days... The reason is, that when you liked a song you heard on the radio, you bought what they called a SINGLE, but was actually TWO songs for what you were perfectly willing to pay for ONE. And sometimes, the B-Side turned out to be even better than the A-Side.
