The basic tracks were written and performed by my writing partner, Drew Duncan, my sister Julie's oldest son. The song had no words when he brought it to a recording session. We worked on it together, adding some more guitar parts and re-arranging the song form to fit my lyrics.

SONG LYICS:
VERSE:
Nobody here asks questions any more
Nobody here would dare to walk out the door
Everybody said that I should give up the fight
That’s what made me walk away from here that night
CHORUS:
When I come around … You’re gonna wonder
How it went down … You’re gonna wonder why
I left this town … but then you’ll wonder why you waited so long … … to finally come around
VERSE:
I grew up in this town where nothing ever changes
Where everything ’s safe cuz ya don’t allow strangers
But nothing will grow without sunshine or water
Now I’m back here with a warning for your son and your daughter
CHORUS:
(So,) When I come around … You’re gonna wonder
How it went down … You might wonder why
I left this town … but then you’ll wonder why you waited so long … … to finally come around
GUTAR Break:
CHORUS:
When I come around … You’re gonna wonder
How it went down … You might wonder why
I left this town … but then you’ll wonder why you waited so long …
VERSE:
Nobody here thinks about what it means
when you raise your children to be like young kings and queens
while the clerks and waitresses who work around here
ride in on a bus and after work they disappear
CHORUS:
(So,) When I come around … You’re gonna wonder
How it went down … Oh you might wonder why
I left this town … but then you’ll wonder why you waited so long …
CHORUS:
(So,) When I come around … You’re gonna wonder
How it went down … Oh you might wonder why
I left this town … but then you’ll wonder why you waited so long …
CHORUS:
Oh… when I come around … You’ll knuckle under
When we tear it all down … You’re gonna wonder why
you never left town … but then you’ll realize you waited too long … … to finally come around
